Nasarawa United thumped Elkanemi Warriors 3-0 in Lafia on a day of draws in the Nigeria Premier Football League to regain top spot on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Solid Miners, who have been excellent all season long, made light work of the Maiduguri side at the Lafia Township Stadium in one of the seven match day 14 matches decided on Sunday across the country. Last season’s top scorer, Anas Yusuf, grabbed a brace before Garba Mohammed added a third three minutes after the break.

With the win, Mbwas Mangut’s side moved three points clear at the top pending Ikorodu City’s game against Kano Pillars on Monday in Katsina. The Solid Miners will visit Warri Wolves next, while Elkanemi will be guests of Shooting Stars in Ibadan next Sunday.

In the remaining six games played on Sunday, four ended in draws. Shooting Stars, in a game they should have won, were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United in Ilorin. It also finished goalless between Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance in Umuahia. It is now three games without a win for Imama Amapakabo’s Umuahia side in the NPFL.

In Bauchi, Bayelsa United continued their strong form on the road as they held Wikki Tourists to a 1-1 draw. Ifeanyi Ogba opened the scoring for the visitors before Nasiru Jibrin scored yet another late goal to rescue a point for Abdu Maikaba’s side. Similarly, it also finished 1-1 between Warri Wolves and Kun Khalifat in Ozoro. Ademola Adebambo’s seventh-minute goal for the hosts was cancelled out by Lekan Gabriel in the 38th minute.

Defending champions, Remo Stars, continued their steady rise on the log with a comfortable 2-0 win over Barau FC in Abeokuta. Ahmed Akinyele and Victor Mbaoma scored in the first half to lead the Sky Blue Stars to a routine win. Kenechukwu Agu scored the only goal of the game to help Rangers International beat Niger Tornadoes in Enugu.

The remaining two games of the match day will be played on Monday when Kano Pillars host Ikorodu City in Katsina, and Katsina United face Enyimba in Ilorin.
