Ahead of Matchday two of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), head coach of MFM Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu has revealed that he expects a tough game against Kwara United when both teams face-off on Wednesday evening.

Coach Fidelis revealed this during an interview with ACLSports.com in anticipation of Matchday two after training on Tuesday. He also assessed the teams’ performance against Abia Warriors on Sunday saying: “It was not a bad game, but we lost due to loss of concentration.”

“The officiating was perfect, the first half was good but in the second half, we lost concentration and conceded two goals.”

On what to expect from Matchday two he said: “Tough game! Tough game because Kwara United lost their first game at home (to Niger Tornadoes) so they will like to come and do something here. We really need to prepare very very well but our team is not 100% fit; that is the truth, but we will all do our best to win the game.”

Fidelis Ilechukwu also went further to explain the reason for the absence of Sikiru Olatunbosun in the first Matchday squad. “For now, there are little challenges I’m having with Sikiru which I believe maybe by tomorrow’s game it would be sorted out. I’m working on it and hopefully, he would respond very well to play the next game,” he said.

It however remains to be seen if Kwara United would still be reeling from the trauma of the road accident suffered by the squad last week on their way back to Ilorin after the NNL Super four tournament in Lagos. MFM FC on the other hand would hope that the return of their coach who was absent on Matchday one due to illness, would give the team the required boost to kick start their season.

The match between MFM FC and Kwara United will take place at the Soccer Temple, Agege Township Stadium by 4pm on Wednesday, 17th January.
