Garba continued his excellent performance and doubled Katsina United’s advantage in the 27th minute, completing his brace and giving his team a comfortable 2–0 lead.
El-Kanemi Warriors attempted to fight their way back into the match, but Katsina United held firm to protect their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.
The result means El-Kanemi Warriors suffered their second consecutive defeat in the tournament, having lost 1–0 to Mighty Jets on the opening day, and they have been knocked out of the competition.
Meanwhile, the other match that was supposed to be between Rangers International and Rivers United did not take place because the Pride of Rivers were absent and the Nigerian champions were awarded three goals and three points.
Action resumes on Friday with games involving Mighty Jets against Katsina United, while Plateau United v Rangers International will be the second game of the day at 4pm.
