Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Plateau United are expected to add striker Sunday Adetunji to their list of new signings on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Adetunji, 22, who last played for Lobi Stars in the league was courted by no fewer than five teams but United, who will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League have won the race to sign the lanky forward.

“Sunday Adetunji flew into Jos on Thursday from Lagos and will sign with Plateau United ” a top source revealed to www.aclsports.com

“It was really a battle to have him because these clubs know what he can offer to them. The lure of playing under Abdu Maikaba and in the CAF Champions League was key in Plateau United winning the race to his signature,” the source adds.

#NPFLTransfers: It appears that #TotalCAFCL representatives Plateau United have won the race to sign striker Sunday Adetunji (earlier linked to Abia Warriors and Rivers United).

He is expected to sign a deal in the next 24 hours. Coach Abdu Maikaba was a key factor in this.

Adetunji played briefly for Lobi Stars last season after a move to Czech Republic with FK Pribram was cut short last October.

Adetunji will become the latest signing for United who have already signed at least six new players this summer ahead of what promises to be a busy season.

United have signed striker Abdulrahman Bashir from Enyimba, winger Moses Effiong from Dakkada FC, Wasiu Jimoh from Sunshine Stars and Flying Eagles centre back Aliu Salaudeen among others.
