Head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, Stanley Eguma is hopes his side’s pre-season result against Enyimba will count when both sides meet on Thursday.

Eguma will lead his wards out at the Enyimba International Stadium for their rescheduled Match Day 7 game against the current league champions Enyimba at 4pm on Thursday.

Eguma, the longest serving head coach in the league who was an assistant coach at Enyimba during their 2004 CAF Champions League victory says his side know their opponents very well.

“Enyimba is always strong especially when they play at home but we recall what happened when we met them in pre-season against them,” Eguma said.

“We dominated against them in Aba and they scored with a penalty in the 1-1 draw while we beat them in Port Harcourt.

“We know this Enyimba team very well and have perfected our tactics for the game,” said Eguma to his team’s Media team.

For Thursday’s game, Enyimba will be without inspirational centre back Ifeanyi Anaemena who is out with a hamstring injury he suffered in their CAF Confederation Cup win over FC San Pedro on Sunday.

A win for Enyimba over a Rivers United side unbeaten in their last three league games will take the People’s Elephant as high as second spot on the log with an extra game in hand.
