Nigerian players abroad continued to shine over the weekend, with Christy Ucheibe lifting the Portuguese Cup with Benfica, while Chidinma Okeke and Chinaza Uchendu also secured domestic titles in Mexico and Australia respectively, www.aclsports.com reports.
Christy Ucheibe helped Benfica Feminino win the Taça de Portugal Feminina with a 2–0 victory over FC Porto at Jamor on Sunday. The final, the first women’s “O Clássico” between the two sides, was effectively decided in the first half as Caroline Møller struck twice in the 4th and 40th minutes to put Benfica in control.
Benfica remained solid after the break to manage the game and clinch their third Portuguese Cup title, completing a domestic double after their Liga BPI triumph.
Super Falcons defender, Chidinma Okeke, celebrated her first title with Club América Femenil in Mexico as they defeated CF Monterrey Femenil 3–1 on aggregate to win their third Liga MX Femenil title and the Clausura 2026 crown, ending a run of four consecutive final defeats after overturning a 1–0 first-leg loss with a dominant 3–0 victory in the return leg.
In Australia, forward Chinaza Uchendu lifted the A-League Women’s title with Melbourne City FC, securing the club’s fifth championship. Although she missed the final stretch of the season due to suspension, her earlier contributions helped the team to another successful campaign.
Elsewhere, Jennifer Echegini started for Paris Saint-Germain Féminine in their 1–0 defeat to Paris FC in the Arkema Première Ligue play-off semi-finals. Rasheedat Ajibade came on from the bench for PSG, but the decisive goal came from former PSG player Hawa Sangaré, sending Paris FC into the final. OL Lyonnes advanced on the other side after an emphatic 8–0 win over Nantes, setting up the title showdown.
