The coach of Wikki Spikers VC, Monday Dada said the club will not disappoint the Bauchi State Government and the volleyball stakeholders in the state.

Wikki Spikers are currently second place with 16 points at the first phase of the 2024 National Division II Volleyball League.

Dada told www.aclsports.com the participation of the team in this year’s Division II volleyball league was made possible by the intervention of Governor Bala Mohammed through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Salis Gamawa.

He revealed that the Director of Sports, Yusuf Usman has been on the forefront of reviving sports in the state.

The former player said, “I want to tell the people of Bauchi state that Wikki Spikers will not disappoint them at the second phase of the 2024 National Division II Volleyball League. We were once in the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League before relegating to the National Division I League. Due to our non-attendance in the Division I, we got relegated to the National Division II by the League Management Committee (LMC).

“When the new Commissioner For Youth and Sports Development, Salis Gamawa, and Director of Sports, Yusuf Usman took over reign, they made it a point of duty to begin the revival of sports in the state in which volleyball is inclusive. The quick intervention of the commissioner and director made it possible for us to participate in the league. Both of them watched Wikki Spikers play five matches in Division I before returning to Bauchi for their official duties.

“The players want to thank His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed for his efforts and giant strides in ensuring sports enjoy maximum attention and financial support during his second term in office. Some of our players who went to other clubs were recalled to come and play for the team. We presented two teams (men and women) with bumper packages for them”.

Dada said the players are determined to work hard in promoting the club to the next level.

He said, “With our performance, I am sure the men’s team will gain promotion into the National Division I Volleyball League while the women’s team will be in the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League next season”.
