Norwegian top-flight side, Lillestrom, have loaned out Nigeria U20 star Kparobo Arierhi to Mjøndalen in the second division, www.aclsports.com reports.

Kparobo, 18, moved to Norway on a four-year deal from Nigeria National League side Beyond Limits Football Academy earlier this year, but he will now continue his development at Mjøndalen until the end of the season.

LSK confirmed Kparobo’s loan move in a post on their website on Thursday afternoon.

“We have decided that it is right to loan KP to Mjøndalen. This is something we have considered for a while. The fact that it is happening now coincides with Mjøndalen having sold its best striker to the Eliteserien, and that we consider the need for more playing time in the OBOS league to be important,” said Sporting Director Simon Mesfin.

“More playing time at the highest possible level is important for KP’s further development, while it is also important in view of the annual extension of his work permit. It is also worth noting that this is important for his potential participation in the U20 World Cup to be held in September/October this year,” the club chief added.

Mesfin also believes that the move to Mjøndalen will be an important piece in Arierhi’s development.

“We believe this loan will be good for “KP”. Both short-term, considering that he will get a lot of match training before he is potentially selected for the U20 World Cup – but also important for his long-term development, so that he will have the opportunity to take further steps towards 2026,” the former player concluded.

Arierhi was part of Nigeria’s squad for the U20 Africa Nations Cup in May and helped the team win bronze. The former Creative Championship golden boot winner started four of the six matches and scored one goal in the tournament. KP will hope to do well and earn a place in Aliyu Zubairu’s team for the U20 World Cup in September.
