Nigeria lose opening game to hosts Georgia emphatically 27 to 14 goals on day one of the 3rd IHF Emerging Nations Championship on Saturday.

Georgia led Nigeria with 8 goals in the first half of the game but went ahead to compound the woes of Nigeria in the second half with 13 goals margin.

In another Group B match, Bulgaria allowed absolutely no doubt to linger in the mind of anyone watching their strong performance beating Malta 38 to 13 goals, while USA narrowly beat Ireland by 37 to 32 goals.

It was a close match between China and Colombia as China managed a three goal victory (28 to 25) against Colombia. The three times participant were held 10-10 draw in the first half by debutant, Colombia.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan cruised to a clear win over India 45 to 29 goals in the second Group A match. Azerbaijan joins China on two points in Group A.

Colombia 25 v 28 China

Malta 13 v 38 Bulgaria

India 29 v 45 Azerbaijan

Cuba 35 v 27 Great Britain

Nigeria 14 v 27 Georgia

USA 37 v 32 Ireland
