Yekini Adebayo told www.aclsports.com that Niger United Handball team has resumed training ahead of next year’s Prudent Energy Handball League.

Niger United piped Safety Shooters of Abuja to clinch the handball league in grand style at the indoor hall of Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.

The head coach of the Minna based team expressed delight over the resumption of the handball league.

Adebayo said, “I’m delighted that after the absence of the handball league for a very long time, Niger United is the first team to lift the league title. This is good for my team and Niger state”.

”There is one thing I want you to know, every coach play the same pattern in handball now but only one thing separates all the teams: ‘fitness’. And that was what my boys showed at the just concluded handball league”, he said.

The ex international said the second phase of the league was competitive adding that most of the teams entered camp to better their performances.

“The second phase of the handball league was highly competitive. Most of the team prepared, in the first phase my boys overran most of the teams with over 20 points but in the second phase, we narrowly won.

“In the first phase, my team beat Plateau Viper with 18 goals but in the second phase only one goal separated us. We beat Borno Spiders of Maiduguri with 21 goals but in the second phase four goals”, he said.
