Defender Babes pivot, Idowu Abdulrazaq, has clinched her fifth consecutive Highest Goal Scorer award, according to www.aclsports.com

Abdulrazaq earned the prestigious title in the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 editions of the Ardova Handball Premier League.

In an exclusive interview with www.aclsports.com, Abdulrazaq attributed her remarkable achievement to the unwavering support of her teammates and the strategies employed by the coaching staff.

The former Adorable Angels player said, “Since I made my debut in the Ardova Handball Premier League (formerly the Prudent League) in 2020, I’ve won the Highest Goal Scorer award every year.

“Whether during my time at Adorable Angels or with my current club (Defender Babes), my teammates have always believed in my ability to score from difficult angles and close ranges.”

She added, “I honestly didn’t expect to win the Highest Goal Scorer award this year because I felt I hadn’t given my best performance during the 2024 season.

“My main goal was to score enough to help my team secure the title, but unfortunately, we fell short. The only match we lost was to Safety Babes, the defending champions. Nonetheless, I feel fulfilled to have won the award again”.

When asked about the future of her team, Abdulrazaq highlighted the importance of preparation before the commencement of the league.

She said, “For Defender Babes to dethrone Safety Babes, it’s crucial for us to have intensive training camps ahead of the league. I believe this will significantly improve our overall performance”.

Regarding the upcoming National Sports Festival, she remained quiet about the state she would represent.

Abdulrazaq said, “I can’t say anything about the National Sports Festival just yet. As you all know, the event has been postponed until May, and team sports will have to go through the Zonal Elimination series before they can qualify for the Games.”
