Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, defeated Togo 4-0 to win the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup in Yamoussoukro on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Flamingos completed a perfect campaign, winning all five matches to claim the title in Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria took control early at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was fouled inside the penalty area in the 14th minute. Captain Harmony Chidi stepped up a minute later and drilled her penalty into the right side of the net, with the goalkeeper going the right way but unable to keep it out.
The Flamingos were awarded another penalty in the 32nd minute after Adegbuyi was fouled inside the area again. Chidi made no mistake from the spot once more, finding the same side of the goal to double Nigeria’s lead in the 35th minute.
Nigeria continued to dominate after the break and extended their advantage in the 67th minute through substitute Oluebube Umejiaku, who advanced down the right before sending a dipping effort across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.
Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute, taking her tournament tally to four goals and finding the net in four consecutive matches.
Nigeria subsequently won the post-match penalty shootout 5-3. The shootout was held after every final-day match but had no bearing on the standings, with only the 90-minute result counting towards the table.
