Smouha of Egypt demolished host Club OmniSports Police Nationale (COSPN) 119-50 to advance to the Elite 8 of the FIBA Africa Basketball League on Saturday at the  at the Palaise de Sports Mahamasina in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Six Smouha players finished on double digits, Ahmed Farag had 19 points, Mohamed Elkoussy scored 13 points, Augustine Okosun had 12 points, Tamer Moustafa scored 11 points, Adamu Saaka had 10 points while Hamad Abouelrish scored 10 points for Smouha.

Sheriff EL-Dysati contributed 12 boards and seven points in 18 minutes from the bench for the Egyptians.

Petro Atletico de Luanda beat ASB Mazembe 74-61 in the second game to advance to the knock out stage of the FIBA Africa Basketball League.

It was Petro Atletico and Smouha’s second consecutive win in Group D. They join the two qualified teams from Group C, Primeiro de Agosto and Al Ahly in the knock stage billed for next month. Consequently, FIBA Africa Zone 5 and 6 have two of their representatives in the next round.

While Smouha come up against Petro Atletico for the winner in Group D, ASB Mazembe will take on COSPN on Sunday.
