The Federal Government as a matter of urgency must provide take off grants for the 31 Sporting Federations says President Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Prince Timothy Nsirim.

Nsirim stated this after the inauguration of boards of Sporting Federations in Abuja.

The President NJF advised the sports minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung to convince the Federal Government on the need to raise funds for the federations.

He vowed not keep silent over the funding stressing that it has made various Federations miss both Africa and European competitions.

The minister must come to our aid, let him give us take off grants, we’ll work for him (Dalung) and Nigeria, he said.

“We’ll go to the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos state were we have multi nationals, Rivers State, Kano and Kaduna states. These are the likely places in the country that are viable and we cannot achieve success with the minister coming through”.

“Some Board members are keeping silent, we don’t have to be silent in this struggle for restructuring in sports. If we keep silent, we’ll die silently and I don’t want Judo to die silently again” Nsirim concluded.

He promised to raise a formidable team for Nigeria with or without funds that will defeat star Judokas in the world.
