FIFA have slapped Egypt Football Federation with a €43,000 fine for failing to comply with rest days rules for the national team players ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The world’s football governing body authorised six rest days between May 21 and 27 for teams participating at the tournament in Russia.

However, the Pharaohs played a friendly match against Kuwait on May 25 which drew the ire of FIFA.

Egypt returned to the global scene this year after 28 years of absence but were eventually knocked of out in the group stage.
