D’Tigers know World Cup opponents in March

Nigeria senior men’s national team, D’Tigers will know their opponents for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on Saturday March 16, 2019.

The draws presented by Wanda, a Chinese multinational conglomerate based in Beijing, will take place in Shenzhen, one of the eight host cities of FIBA’s flagship competition. It will include side attractions and special performances by world-renowned artists, to be unveiled by FIBA soon.

The draw procedures for the 32 participating teams will be made public in the days leading up to the special event.

Nigeria and 17 other countries have already booked their place in the biggest basketball showpiece next year. These countries include: host China; Angola, Nigeria, Tunisia (Africa); Argentina, Canada, USA, Venezuela (Americas); Australia, Korea, New Zealand (Asia); Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Spain, Turkey (Europe).

Prior to the draw, the sixth and final window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers will take place from February 18-26 to complete the 32-team field, as 26 countries battle for the final 14 places remaining.

Nigeria will come against Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire and Central Africa Republic in the last round of Group D games.

The basketball World Cup will tipoff on Saturday August 31- Sunday September 15, 2019 in China.
