Nigeria’s female cricket team, the Yellow Greens, suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Namibia in their second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier on Monday, www.aclsports.com reports.

At the Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek, the defeat came after Nigeria had started their campaign on a positive note, winning their opening game against Sierra Leone.

Nigeria elected to bat first but were bowled out for 70 runs in 18.4 overs. Salome Sunday top-scored with 22 off 28 balls, while Osato Omonkhobhio added 14 from 11. Namibia’s bowling attack proved decisive, led by Sylvia Tuhadeleni (3/13), Kayleen Green (2/10), and Mekelaye Mwatile (2/16).

Namibia chased down the target comfortably, finishing on 71/2 in 9.5 overs. Yasmeen Khan’s unbeaten 51 from 30 deliveries anchored the innings, with Green contributing 15. For Nigeria, Mirabel Kehinde (1/10) and Lilian Ude (1/14) picked up the two wickets.

The Yellow Greens, with one win and one loss so far, will aim to bounce back when they face Zimbabwe in their next group game on 3 September.
