Chelsea FC have announced the signing of Leicester City midfielder, Danny Drinkwater on a 5 year deal.
Drinkwater, 27, has been on Antonio Conte’s radar after he oversaw the exit of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford FC and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Crystal Palace all in midfield position.
The England international who is said to be worth £35m becomes the second addition to Chelsea’s midfield after the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko; and they would both have to compete with Cesc Fabregas and Ngolo Kante for a starting spot in midfield.
‘I’m delighted to be a Chelsea player and can’t wait to get started. It has been a long journey to get here but I am very happy and am looking forward to helping the club win more trophies.’
The Manchester United academy product who formed a strong partnership with Kante during their title winning campaign two seasons ago will now reunite with his former teammate at the Bridge.
