Remo Stars of Ikenne, one of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, were beaten 2-0 by ASFAR of Morocco in the second leg of their preliminary round fixture to exit the competition on Sunday night, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Sky Blue Stars won the first leg 2-1 but lost the tie on aggregate by two second half goals from Joel Beya and Amine ZouhZouh to end their journey at the first hurdle for the second year in a row.

🚨Remo Stars exit continental football for the third time in a roll after a 2-0 defeat in Rabat to ASFAR.

Nigeria now have two representatives, Rangers (#CAFCL) and Enyimba (#CAFCC) left on the continent.

Daniel Ogunmodede made a couple of changes to his side that played the first leg with Dela Akorli, Ikeagwu Thankgod and Alex oyowah all coming into the starting line-up for Sikiru Alimi, Franck Mawuena and Michael Tochukwu.

The Moroccans, who got a goal in Ikenne to be in vantage position, started the game brightly, but they could not find their way past the NPFL side.

As Remo Stars continued to hold on, the home side upped their ante and deservedly got their goal shortly after the break. Beya, just like he did in the first leg, he got past his markers to hand his side the lead.

From that moment on, Remo Stars were on their way out of the competition and it was all but confirmed when the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty which was converted by ZouhZouh ten minutes from time. In the end, the Moroccans proved their superiority again to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

Following their exit, Remo Stars will now turn attentions to the 2024/25 NPFL season starting early next month for them.
