Nigeria’s representative in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League; Lobi Stars on Wednesday left the country for South Africa aboard a Rwanda Air flight ahead of Saturday’s clash with Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, reports www.aclsports.com

The team left the Nigerian capital Abuja on Wednesday afternoon and stopped over in Kigali, Rwanda after over five hours of flight time. They left Kigali at about midnight local time for their final destination in Pretoria.

Lobi Stars upon settling down in South Africa on arrival on Thursday will feel the turf of the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Friday evening ahead of Saturday’s Group A game billed for the 28,900 capacity stadium.

Solomon Ogbeide-led Lobi Stars go into the game against Sundowns on the back of two draws in their last two matches in domestic and continental competitions. A valiant 0-0 draw against Wydad Casablanca in Rabat was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw against Katsina United in Makurdi last Sunday.

Sundowns are joint top of the Group with seven points from four matches, same number of points with Wydad Casablanca. Their opponents Lobi Stars are however not far away, they have four points from as many games and any result other than a defeat in Pretoria will leave the Nigerians with a very good chance of progression.

Saturday’s game will kick-off at 9pm local time, 8pm in Nigeria in what could be another chilly outing for the West Africans, after their last trip to Rabat.
