NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens have arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ahead of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers, www.aclsports.com reports.
The qualifying tournament will take place from 23 August to 5 September 2026, with Edo Queens drawn in Group B alongside last year’s winners ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire, Ampem Darkoa FC of Ghana and AS Garde Nationale du Niger.
Edo Queens will have to navigate the tournament without head coach Moses Aduku, who is currently with the Falconets as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Bendel Insurance technical adviser Kennedy Boboye will oversee the team on an interim basis during the competition.
The Benin-based side won the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership title before claiming the WAFU-B crown later that year. They finished fourth on their continental debut after losing to TP Mazembe.
Among the players in the squad is Atume Doosuur, who was the top scorer during Edo Queens’ title-winning campaign. New signing Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who was named MVP of the NWFL Premiership last season, is also part of the squad.
The Edo Queens squad includes Charlotte Adjie, Siadat Adebiyi, Ifeoma Ikenokwalu, Marylyn Essien, Vera Samuel, Deborah Odiagbe, Oluebube Umejiaku, Chidima Ogbuchi, Destiny Itobore, Esther Moses, Zeniab Olopade, Aminat Folorunsho, Esther Inyang, Tarnum Dooshima, Favour Damaris, Glory Edet, Valentina Uroko, Morufat Ademola and Doris Ohia.
They will be looking to make another strong push in WAFU-B and book their place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, with the eventual winners of the qualifying tournament earning the Zone B ticket.
