NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens defeated ASEC Mimosas 3-1 for their second straight win in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Two first-half goals and a late strike in the second half were enough to seal all three points and take the Nigerian side to six points from two matches in Ouagadougou.
Defending champions ASEC Mimosas started brightly, but Edo Queens broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Chioma Moses’ quick throw found Aminat Folorunsho, whose cross was headed home by Oluwakemi Adegbuyi for her second goal of the tournament.
Both sides had chances to score, but neither could convert until the 43rd minute when Atume Doosuur found Chioma Moses on the left. Moses then picked out Dooshima Tarnum for a simple finish to double Edo Queens’ lead as they went into the break 2-0 ahead.
ASEC Mimosas reduced the deficit seven minutes from time after goalkeeper Doris Ohia was unable to deal with a free-kick. Her attempt to prevent the ball from going out for a corner saw it fall into the path of Touré Doudou, who converted to make it 2-1.
Edo Queens responded with a late third goal as substitute Oluebube Umejiaku initiated the move before finding Itobore Destiny, whose effort was saved by the ASEC goalkeeper. Umejiaku reacted quickest to the rebound and fired home in the 89th minute to restore Edo Queens’ two-goal cushion.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was subsequently named Player of the Match following her goalscoring contribution.
The win gives Edo Queens six points from two games and strengthens their chances of progressing from Group B ahead of their final Group B match against Ampem Darkoa on August 30.
