Reflecting on her national championship victory, Obanishola expressed the pride she feels in holding the title.

“It’s an absolute honour to be the national women’s champion; the feeling is indescribable, a mix of pride, joy, and a sense of accomplishment. This title serves as a reminder of my hard work and dedication, motivating me to continue pushing boundaries and striving for excellence”, she said.

Looking back at 2024, Obanishola described the year as a turning point in her career.

“2024 has been an incredible year for my career. I’ve worked tirelessly to improve my skills, and it’s paid off with notable achievements.”

Obanishola also recalled her experience at the 2023 African Games, where she won a bronze medal while still in university.

“Winning a bronze medal at the African Games in Ghana while still in school was a remarkable experience,” she said.

“Now that I am done with school, I will have more time to focus on my training, allowing me to refine my skills and gain a competitive edge. I’m confident that this increased dedication will improve my chances of success in future competitions.”

With an eye on the future, Obanishola has set her sights on the 2028 Olympic Games.

She said, “The 2028 Olympic Games are definitely on my radar. “While it’s still a few years away, I’m already working towards making my Olympic debut.

“With consistent training, dedication, and the right support, I believe I have a realistic chance of representing my country on the world’s biggest stage.”

Obanishola confirmed that she will represent Rivers State at the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

She said, “I’m proud to be representing Rivers State at the National Sports Festival in Ogun. I am looking forward to competing against the best athletes from around the country and making my state proud”.

Obanishola will feature at the 2025 All African Seniors Badminton Championship in Douala, Cameroon next February.
