Team Nigeria Gymnasts on Saturday accused the President of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria (GFN), Prince Kelvin Ehizogie of collecting part of their allowances without proper explanation.

Nigeria won two bronze medals in the Gymnastics event at the ongoing Africa Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria.

According to athletes who do not want their names published on www.aclsports.com, the president collected 200 dollars from each of the gymnasts.

“After winning two bronze medals at the end of the gymnastics event, we were given our correct allowances by the officials of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sport and some of us were happy because we have not left the shores of the country before”.

“Unfortunately, the President of our federation, Prince Kelvin Ehizogie collected 200 dollars without telling us the reason behind it. This is extortion and should not be swept under the carpet by the minister of sports” one of them said

“I think the journalists here together with the ministry of sports should work hard to find a solution to this incident and help the athletes. Because most of the gymnasts are not happy with occurred as we have not heard that other Presidents or board members collected part of their athletes allowances”, she ended.

Efforts to contact the President of Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria, Prince Kelvin Ehizogie proved abortive.
