Grace Anigbata was also in brilliant form in the Triple Jump, as she won her first African title as Team Nigeria won three Gold medlas on day 5 of the African Athletics Championship to finish third on the medal table with.

The hosts ended with 9 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze behind South Africa and Kenya.

The three gold medals came from 400m Hurdles Women, Triple Jump Women and the 4x400m Women.

In the 400m Hurdles, Glory Nathaniel won her first individual senior title in 55.45 secs ahead of Morocco and South Africa.

The last Gold medal came in the Women’s 4x400m Relay team (Patience Okon-George, Abike Egbeniyi, Folasade Abugan and Yinka Ajayi) who got first to the finish line in 3:31.14 while Kenya won Silver and Bronze went to Zambia.

Team Nigeria added a Silver in the Men’s 200m and two Bronze medals in the Men’s 4x400m and Men’s Javelin Throw.

In the men’s 200m, Divine Oduduru clocked 20.60 secs to finish second behind Titi Ncincilili of South Africa, who won in 20.46 secs with compatriot, Luxolo Adams taking third place also in 20.60 secs as Oduduru.

Kufre Adams got the Bronze in the Javelin Throw while the quartet of Orukpe Erayokan, Rilwan Alowonle, Isah Salihu and Chidi Okezie also won Bronze.

Nigeria finished third overall on the medals table with 9 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze medals, the same position at the country occupied at the last edition in Durban 2016.

Over 120 medals were won at the 2018 African Athletics Championship.
