The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has revealed its 15-member team for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, with Oluwatobi Amusan and Ese Brume included, while Favour Ofili is notably absent, www.aclsports.com reports.

On the women’s side, Rosemary Chukwuma leads the 100m challenge, while Oluwatobi Amusan eyes another global title in the 100m hurdles. Ese Brume and Prestina Ochonogor compete in the long jump, Chioma Onyekwere and Obiageri Amaechi in the discus, and Oyesade Olatoye in the hammer throw.

The men’s contingent is equally strong. Nigeria will be represented in the sprints by Kanyinsola Ajayi and Israel Okon in the 100m, with Udodi Onwuzurike taking charge in the 200m. Samuel Ogazi and Chidi Okezie will contest the 400m, while Nathaniel Ezekiel runs the 400m hurdles. In the field events, Charles Godfred aims for a podium finish in the long jump, and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi takes on the shot put.

The announcement confirmed the absence of U.S.-based 200m sprinter Favour Ofili, who reportedly switched allegiance to Turkey, although no official statement has been made.
