Rivers Angels failed to make it a fourth consecutive title after falling to Nasarawa Amazons on penalties in the women’s AITEO Cup final on Sunday afternoon at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Once again, the rivalry between Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons was ignited in Kaduna as both teams squared up for the prestigious price of Nigeria’s Premier Cup competition known as the AITEO Cup.

It was a keenly contested affair in front of a mammoth crowd at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna as both teams tested each other’s resolve. At the end of the first 45′ there was nothing to separate both sides who parade some of the best players in the Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWPL).

Just like the first half, there was little to separate both sides in the second period as the winner then had to be decided by penalties. However, just before the blast of the final whistle River Angels made a crucial change in the goalkeeping department replacing Chiamaka Nnadozie with Tochukwu Oluehi who is widely know for her spot kick heroics.

In the end Nasarawa Amazons put all five of their spot kicks beyond Oluehi in goal while Orji of Rivers Angels had hers saved as the Amazons emerged Champions winning 4-5 on penalties to clinch their first ever cup title in 14 years.
