A couple of African players put up an outstanding display for their respective sides in the UEFA Champions League group stage 5th round played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Senegal international Krepin Diatta snatched a precious point for his Belgium team Club Brugge, who forced a 1-1 away stalemate against Turkish side Galatasaray in Group A.

The 20-year-old couldn’t contain his joy after the 90th minute equalizer, removing shirt and earning a second yellow card.

Ivory Coast’s Serge Aurier had declared being highly motivated by the arrival of José Mourinho as Tottenham coach and the left-back seemed to be proving it.

After his weekend’s assist against West Ham, the former PSG player turned a scorer on Tuesday, hitting home Spurs third goal, in a 4-2 win over Olympiacos in Group B.

On the opposing side of that game was another African, Youssef El Arabi of Morocco national team. The 32-year-old forward scored one of the consolations for Olympiacos.

Ajax are leading Group H with 10 points following their 2-0 success in away fixture against French side Lille thanks in part to Morocco international Hakim Ziyech, who scored one of his side’s goal.

He could have powered their lead to 3-0 but wasted a penalty kick.
