Deborah Abiodun, scored her first goal for Washington Spirit in a 4-0 win over Vancouver Rise FC in the CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Recalled from her loan spell at Dallas Trinity, the Super Falcons midfielder began on the bench for the second straight game, came on for Paige Metayer at halftime, and capped her second Spirit appearance with a thunderous 81st-minute strike from distance. Her compatriot, Gift Monday, started but made way for Rose Kouassi in the 61st minute.

Tara McKeown opened the scoring in the 31st minute, Heather Stainbrook doubled the advantage with a header, and Trinity Rodman added a third before halftime. Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver kept her second clean sheet of the competition.

Abiodun’s long-range effort sealed a near-perfect night for the Spirit, who sit top of Group B with six points from two games. They face Gotham FC next on October 1.
