Sports minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration is resolute to invest in Para sports.

Dalung stated this at the inauguration ceremony of the elected members into the boards of National Para Sports Federation in Abuja.

Ministers and newly sworn board members of Nigeria Para Sports.

He promised to support Para sports if the athletes will remain in the sports to make Nigeria proud; then it will be worth it for Nigeria to be able to invest in the athletes.

“Para Sports with supports from the government and private sector, we’ll dominate global Para sports as a nation. We have the potential, the human and natural resources”, he said.

Dalung said, “If Nigeria has consistently remained within the committee of sporting nations because of the performance of the Para sports athletes in world. We are indeed proud of you as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria”.

He urged elected members to have the best interest of the federation at heart, adding that the athletes deserve the best under their leadership.

He said the ministry will encourage the elected members to get to leadership positions in various international platforms, and in due course, organise an election to get into the elective position of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN).

“The board needs to meet quarterly to discuss and make decisions in line with the court governance terms. With hard work and visionary leadership, I’m very optimistic that very soon some of you will occupy great positions at continental, international bodies, and Paralympic committees”

He however, commended the electoral committee for a transparent election which was held on 15th February, 2018
