Two quick-fire first half goals saw champions, Plateau United return to winning ways, following a comfortable 3-0 win against El-Kanemi Warriors in Jos.

The game started with both clubs observe a minute’s silence in honour of Plateau’s physiotherapist, Damian Kuptong, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday.

Looking to bounce back from their defeat last weekend to Abia Warriors, Jimmy Ambrose headed the home side in front as early as the second minute, from the first corner of the match.

Six minutes later, Joshua Obaje doubled their advantage as the hosts went into the break with a comfortable lead.

Raphael Ayagwa made it 3-0 after the break, after an error by the El-Kanemi defenders to seal a convincing win for the Champions.

The result was Plateau’s third win of the season, and moves them top of the league on nine points, level on points with Aiteo Cup holders, Akwa United, who defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-1 in Minna.

Elsewhere, 2016 champions, Rangers International of Enugu made it back-to-back victories after a hard-fought 1-0 win over newly promoted outfit, Kastina United.
