Ogene Ifeanyi of FCT will be hoping to become a national champion at the open championships when the event is held in Abuja from November 21st to 25th, 2017.

Speaking with aclsports.com, the African Champion said he’s eyes are on the gold medal in the -67kg weight category.

Ifeanyi said his ultimate dream is to be a World Karate champion and to be an Olympic medallist in no distant time.

“I’m based in Abuja, training has been fine though but I still need to train harder. So far, I won gold and a silver medal at the championship in Kenya this year”, he said.

“Though I’ve not won any national medal in Nigeria, I’ll fight in the -67kg, eye the gold and begin my journey to greatness”.

“To be a World Champion and Olympic medallist have always been my dream and this can be achieved starting from the home front by winning a medal in Abuja”, Ifeanyi concluded.

According to the President Karate Federation of Nigeria, Silas Agara who doubles as the deputy governor of Nassarawa state, the championship is to select players that will represent the country at the 2020 Olympics qualifiers
