Three Nigerian boxers qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics at the 2023 Africa Olympic Boxing qualifiers…

Three Nigerian boxers have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games at the just concluded 2023 Africa Olympic Boxing qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal on Friday.

The trio of Cynthia Ogunsemilore, Joshua Omole, and Adam Olaore won gold medals at the African Championships which serves as a qualifier.

In the women’s 60kg, Cynthia Ogunsemilore beat Khelif Hadjila of Algeria by unanimous decision (5-0) as she clinched the first gold medal for Nigeria at the competition.

Nigerian boxers qualify for Paris 2024

In the men’s 57kg, Joshua Omole defeated Ethiopia’s Leta Yadesa by split decision (3-2) to book a spot for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and emerged as the African Champion in the men’s featherweight class.

The third gold came from Adams Olalere after bashing Algeria’s Houmri Mohamed 4-1, securing a split decision win to become a 2X African Champion and becoming the third Nigerian boxer to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the men’s 92kg.

Team Nigerian won six medals at the tournament with three gold medals and three bronze medals.

Adeola Oyesiji (flyweight), Nene Ojo (featherweight), and Patricia Mbata (middleweight) won bronze medals for Nigeria.
