The group stage of the 2018 AITEO Cup competition commenced on Monday with Confluence Queens of Lokoja picking an important victory in Enugu.

A total of two games were played in Group B and C of the tournament as Confluence Queens defeated Delta Babes 3-2 to pick up the first three points of the group. The team from Lokoja started the brighter of both sides scoring within the first five minutes through Aweda Titilayo. At full time, the Nigeria Women’s Football League side defeated Delta Babes 3-2 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

At the Ijebu Ode centre, Sunshine Queens were held by Bayelsa Queens after going one goal up in the 13th minute. Lola Phillips put the Akure based team ahead in the first half but a second half fight back from Bayelsa Queens ensured both teams shared the spoils on the day.

Others matches in the group stage would be played during the course of the week with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the quarterfinals.
