Nigeria bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to beat Bulgaria 3-0 in the Men’s Division Two Group F at the Liebherr 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships on Wednesday in Sweden.

After falling to the Slokavians 24 hours ago, the Nigerian team made up of Quadri Aruna, Segun Toriola and Olajide Omotayo ensured Nigeria’s qualification to the knockout stage is guaranteed

Toriola defeated Stanislav Golovanov 3-0 (11-7, 11-3, 11-8) in the first game, while Aruna made it 2-0 when he beat Teodor Alexandrov 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 in the second game and Omotayo completed the rout over the Bulgarians with a 3-1 win. Omotayo came from a game down to beat Denislav Kodjabashov 4-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-8.

After the game, Nigeria were temporarily on top of Group F but Slovakia’s 3-2 win over Argentina later in the day returned Nigeria to second place with 3 wins out of 4 games played.

The Nigerian trio will next face Australia in their last Group F match on Thursday.

Only the top three teams in each group of the second division will advance to the knockout stage where they will fight for a place in the championship division.
