Reigning Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United defeated relegation haunted Kwara United 2-0 in one of two rescheduled Match Day 13 games decided on Thursday.

Striker Tosin Omoyele, fresh from netting a stoppage time equaliser for United at Heartland on Monday scored the curtain raiser for Kennedy Boboye’s men in Jos on 20 minutes before midfielder Raphael Ayagwa scored from the spot five minutes from time after Omoyele was fouled to seal victory for his side.

The win took Plateau United up by three places on the log while ending Kwara United’s draw-filled unbeaten run since Abubakar Bala took charge of the team. Kwara by the draw dropped down to the bottom of the twenty-team log after eighteen rounds of matches.

In Thursday’s other game, former Champions Rangers International were frustrated to a 0-0 draw by Lagos based side MFM FC at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Owerri.

Gbenga Ogunbote’s Rangers had drawn their last two league games 0-0 and were hoping to end the spell of barrenness against the spiritual side who ultimately did not cave in.

Sikiru Olatunbosun hit the post for the visitors late in the first half before Chidera Eze also rattled the MFM post with a free kick in the second half as Fidelis Ikechukwu’s side held on for the point with a resolute defensive display.

Both teams who remain behind each other drop a place each on the log as Plateau United climbed to eighth after their aforementioned win.
