Commonwealth Champion, Shola Olowookere won a Bronze medal in the Male -68kg category at the on-going African Taekwondo Championships in Agadir, Morocco.

In his first international since winning the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in 2014, the 21-year old Olowookere defeated Ethiopia’s Musa Hassen 28 to 10 points in the Round of 16, Cote D’Ivoire’s Peken Logbo 16 to 2 points in the quarter-finals before losing to Niger Republic’s USA-based Ismael Yacouba 12 to 17 points in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other two competitors in the event, African Silver Medalist Chinazum Nwosu and international debutant, Ifeoluwa Ajayi, will be competing on Friday in the female -53kg and male -63kg category respectively.

All three competitors, who are being coached by one of the National Coaches, John Victor, are also expected to take part in the World Taekwondo President Cup Africa, 31st March and 1 April at the same city of Agadir, Morocco.
