Nigerian gymnast Tayo Fakiyesi feels that his dreams have come true with his qualification for this year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Fakiyesi who is currently in Gold Coast told www.aclsports.com that he wants to win a medal at his Commonwealth Games debut which begins on April 4th and end on April 15th, 2018.

He revealed that after the Games, he intends representing Nigeria at the African Championships later in the year.

“It is a dream come true to be at the Commonwealth Games after several years of doing the sport. I’m attending the Games for the first time ever and what is on my mind is to get a medal”, he said.

“I put a lot of pressure on myself to perform after being on the Commonwealth list and I believe that pressure had affected my performance. So, that is something I’ll work on going forward.”

The All African Games bronze medalist in the team event said he’s looking forward to getting positive results in Australia.

“I think my little experience in Congo and the International training camp in Tokyo, Japan last month will make a big difference for me. “I’m very excited about that. That’s the main goal for me now and I’ll be giving my all to achieve that.”

Fakiyesi captained Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria’s contingent to the 2015 All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
