Nigeria’s preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup suffered a rare blow, after the Super Eagles were beaten by Serbia in London.

Two second half goals from  Newcastle United forward, Aleksandar Mitrovic, gave the Serbians a comfortable 2-0 victory in London.

It was the second time Nigeria will be losing under manager, Gernot Rohr, after that 2-0 defeat at home to South Africa last year.

Consequently, disappointed Nigerian fans in their usual way took to their social media accounts to voice their thoughts about the latest defeat.

Here are some of the reactions;

The last time Awaziem partnered Troost Ekong, Nigeria was defeated by South Africa 2-0, today he partnered Troost Ekong again and we have losg 2-0. #NairaBetGopay

We lost to Serbia, and we are playing Argentina and Croatia. Just saying

Appreciate the optimism of everyone saying Rohr has NOW seen what the problems are that need fixing.

This problem is not new. It's been there since qualifying. If there was any intention to fix it, we'd have seen some shoots already.

Most want to blame the defense but no it's was the midfield, they turned over the ball so quickly it was too easy for the serbians,

I see the clamour for Enyeama is back. Predictably. Apparently if he was there tonight, we would not have lost. We have never lost a game he was kept goal in.I wonder how we qualified for the world cup & beat Argentina & Poland without him.

Enyeama aka Messiah.#NairaBETGoPay

@NGSuperEagles : Please grow up and stop delaying the tweets of the final results when ever the team fails to win. You did the same thing in uyo when south africa won 2-0. FT: @FSSrbije 2 @thenff @NGSuperEagles 0. #NGASER #NGASRB .

Even with the 0-2 in #NGASRB there's positive things in the match from the boys. Still feel and believe they will go places in #Russia2018 #SoarSuperEagles. Remember Argentina was thrashed today and we're in the same group.

#NgaSrb We missed Mikel and Leon. Our guys did not seem up for it too as they played without intensity. Why is Joel Obi still playing? No positional sense, no tackling, no key passes and forward runs/play.

#NGASRB 0-2. White wedding gown no mean say bride na virgin, no be by zebra crossing jersey o!
