Kaduna men’s football team head coach, Shola Ibrahim Adewuyi, has stated that his side are eyeing gold medal in the football event after guiding his side into the semi-finals of the 22nd National Sports Festival on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The centre of Learning side showed grit and determination to beat Team Lagos on penalties after it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

“A game of football is a game of challenge,” Adewuyi told www.aclsports.com in a short chat.

“Everybody competing in the football event is here for gold, likewise, Kaduna State. Although anything we get, we will accept it as fate, but we are here to win gold.”

The head coach went ahead to praise his boys for the fight in the tough game, hoping his side could win the next match and play in the gold medal match.

“When you represent a state or zone in the festival, you are to give a good fight. We are happy that at the end of this quarterfinal game, we were able to edge Lagos State, and we hope we can win our next game.”

“Like I mentioned earlier, football is a game of challenge, and if you want to go far, that is the reason why we are here to represent the state and that is why we are here. Those who sent us believe in us, while we also believe in our boys; we can go ahead to overcome our next hurdle and march on,” he concluded.

Team Kaduna will play their semi-final game on Saturday against Team Kwara at the Remo Stars Stadium.
