Super Falcons player, Onome Ebi has praised the efforts of the home based Super Falcons team who won bronze medal at the just concluded WAFU tournament in Ivory Coast.

“Concerning the WAFU team that went to Cote D’Ivoire, you know it’s not a FIFA competition so the professionals are not allowed to participate but the home based really tried and we are really proud of them and we believe when we come together with them we would be able to do more,” she said at the NWFL Champions Shield on Sunday.

The Falcons defender who recently signed for Chinese club, Henan Huishang said her target for her new club is to prove herself and show that she deserves to be there.

On the lack of competitive football or camping for the Super Falcons ahead of the African Women Cup of Nations Onome said: “We are fighting for friendly matches and we have one coming up in April against France. I think that’s a very top one that will help the team and after that I believe we will have many more to come.”

Finally, Onome Ebi expressed her excitement on the improved coverage for and support of women’s football saying: “its really amazing. I’m very excited about the NWFL Champions Shield and I’m so impressed.”

“The journalists have always been on our side. They’ve always been there for us and now they are doing more. I also want to thank the new board members for the women’s league; they are really doing a great work,” she said.
