Success Oyibu reached the women’s 200m final while Miracle Ezechukwu was disqualified on Day Three of the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, www.aclsports.com reports.
Oyibu booked her place in the final after winning her semifinal race in 23.13 seconds. Earlier in the day, the Nigerian had progressed from the heats after clocking 23.04 seconds to finish first in her race.
Ezechukwu also advanced from the opening round, winning her heat in 23.34 seconds. She later ran a personal best of 22.61 seconds in the semifinals but was later disqualified for a lane infringement, ending her challenge in the event.
In the men’s 200m, Perfect Faye failed to progress beyond the heats after placing sixth in his race with a time of 21.29 seconds.
Nigeria was also represented in the men’s triple jump final by Precious Opinion. The Nigerian, who qualified with a personal best, finished seventh overall after recording a best jump of 15.82m in the final.
Meanwhile, Chika Bakwunye did not finish her heat in the women’s 100m hurdles after falling during the race.
Day Four will see Oyibu return to the track for the women’s 200m final, where she will be Nigeria’s sole representative in a championship final in Oregon.
