Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, defeated Côte d’Ivoire 2-0 to extend their winning run at the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Flamingos struck early and added a second late in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory over hosts Côte d’Ivoire at Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the fourth minute after Nigeria’s high press forced Côte d’Ivoire to lose possession just outside the penalty area. A swift passing move followed, with Sakirat Sarafa delivering a low cross into the box for Adegbuyi to finish clinically and register her third goal of the tournament.
Côte d’Ivoire could not find a way back into the game despite their efforts to level the score, as the Flamingos remained organised and protected their advantage.
Hakeem Basari’s side doubled their lead in the 83rd minute through substitute Pattra Oparanmegwa, whose long free-kick from inside Nigeria’s own half caught the Ivorian goalkeeper off guard. The goalkeeper attempted to save the effort but misjudged its flight, allowing the ball to sail into the net.
The result takes the Flamingos to 12 points from four matches at the top of the table, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the competition. They will face Togo on September 27 in their final match of the tournament.
Elsewhere on Matchday 4, Niger defeated Ghana 6-0, while Burkina Faso beat Togo 2-1, with Ghana moving into second place in the standings.
