Nigerian defender Emmanuel Godwin played a part in FK Pardubice’s 4-1 away win at Teplice in the Czech top flight on Sunday afternoon, www.aclsports.com reports.
Godwin, 21, has been in fine form in recent weeks, as FKP continued to turn things around following a slow start to the new campaign.
After losing at home to Liberec in their previous league outing, Godwin and Pardubice were in desperate need of returning to winning ways, and they got off to a flying start when Godwin’s fine low cross was turned home by the opposition defender in the 20th minute.
Just two minutes later, the home side levelled through a goal from Dalibor Vecerka, but Pardubice went back in front on the stroke of halftime through Arouna Ouattara.
After the break, the visitors continued to push for more goals, and despite a penalty miss, Teplice goalkeeper Matous Trmal turned the ball into his own net to increase the advantage for the visitors. And just before the hour mark, Ouattara completed his brace to see out a win on the road for FK Pardubice.
For Godwin, it was another impressive outing as he was the third-rated player according to Flashscore at the end of the contest. He finished the game with three successful dribbles, won 50% of his tackles, won 80% of his duels, and completed three interceptions.
With the win, FKP are up to 12th on the log, and alongside Godwin, they will be keen to move up when they face Brno in their next league game after the international break.
