The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has concluded plans to honour Super Eagles forward Moses Simon as he closes in on a century of appearances for Nigeria, www.aclsports.com reports.
Simon will earn his 100th senior international cap if he features in Friday’s 2027 AFCON qualifier against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The fleet-footed forward made his Super Eagles debut on 25 March 2015 and has since earned 99 caps, scoring 12 goals. Of those 99 appearances, Nigeria recorded 49 wins, 30 draws and 20 defeats with Simon on the pitch.
“I can testify that Moses Simon is an incredible player and a wonderful human being, having related with him at close quarters for several years. He is a patriot to the core, and forever passionate and dedicated to the Nigeria cause. The NFF celebrates him on this special occasion and wish him many more caps with the Super Eagles.” NFF’s Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, said about Simon on Thursday.
In total, Moses Simon has featured in 64 competitive matches for Nigeria, as well as 35 friendly games. He has featured in a total of 23 matches for Nigeria at the AFCON finals, and played in 22 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Simon will become the latest member of the current Super Eagles squad to reach century caps this year, following Alex Iwobi‘s feat back in June.
