Less than 24 hours after unveiling the squad for the upcoming doubleheader friendlies against Cameroon, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has secured yet another crucial fixture for the Super Falcons, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face Portugal’s senior women’s national team in an international friendly as part of their preparations for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for July in Morocco.

The Portuguese Football Federation has officially announced that the match will take place in Lisbon on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM. This fixture forms a key part of the Super Falcons’ week-long training camp in Portugal, designed to prepare the team adequately for the WAFCON challenge.

During their stay in Lisbon, the Falcons will play two test matches against Portugal’s senior women’s national team. One of the games has been sanctioned by FIFA to allow the coaching crew to properly assess the readiness, form of the players and tactical cohesion ahead of the tournament.

The training camp aligns with the FIFA international match window from June 23 to July 5, 2025, ensuring full availability of players and proper acclimatisation before heading to Morocco. The 2024 CAF WAFCON will be held from July 5 to July 26, 2025, and Nigeria, nine-time champions are aiming to reclaim their crown.

With an intense buildup now in motion, Nigeria’s preparation for WAFCON is taking a serious shape, blending high quality opposition, structured training camps, and tactical assessments to ensure the team is ready to make another bold statement on the continental stage.
