Former Kada Kings VC player, has joined the newly promoted Diffa Hassani VC of El Jadida, Morocco. Zakka said the move will mark a major step forward in his quest to make a name for himself in the world of professional volleyball.
Speaking to www.aclsports.com, Zakka reflected on the significance of this move, calling it an opportunity of a lifetime.
“I consider this an opportunity of a lifetime, because this will kick start my journey as a professional player.
“My target at the Diffa Hassani VC is to make a name for myself and to make a name for the club by making history and helping the club achieve their vision,” he added.
The promising player revealed that he started playing volleyball as a young academy player with Rockstar Volleyball Club of Karu.
“I started playing volleyball as an academy player with the Rockstar Volleyball Club of Karu, Abuja about 10 years ago. I grew from the ranks from a young player to a Premier League player with Kada Kings in Nigeria”.
The former U21 CAVB Zone 3 beach volleyball champion said volleyball and beach volleyball are to complement each other.
“I never believe playing one can stop me from playing the other, only a good volleyball player can be a good beach volleyball player,” he said.
“Playing beach volleyball is a strategy for improving my volleyball skills, both in pass, defense, and attack.”
Zakka attributes much of his growth to his first coach, Vincent Unogwu, who discovered his potential and shaped his early career.
He explained that, “Vincent Unogwu is my first coach who discovered me and other young players.
“He believes in me and never loses faith in a player. His patience in teaching us the fundamentals of the game made many of us some of the best players in our roles as junior and senior players.”
“His players and those who passed through him during their early days in volleyball are scattered around all the big clubs in Nigeria’s premier League. So I was not surprised when I learned he has a program to run in Morocco. He is a coach with so much passion and innovations,” Zakka noted.
