Volleyball: Life Camp beat Safety Spikers in Div 2 Opener

Debutants, Life Camp Volleyball Club defeated Safety Spikers 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 26-24) in the men’s category of the ongoing National Division 2 League in Owerri, Imo State on Monday.
Life Camp VC began their campaign for promotion at the outdoor court of the Imo State Sports Complex.
In the first set, Life Camp took the lead by 6-2 points before the Safety Spikers snatched two vital points. Life Camp Libero, Taye Baiyere ensured the ball did not drop at the six metres of his court, giving his team the advantage of gaining eight points in a row. The first set ended in favour of Life Camp by 25 to 21 points.
Safety Spikers began the second set in a high spirit banging the ball in the court of Life Camp but the defensive Life Camp caught up with Safety Spikers 15 to 15 points before cruising to win 25 to 21 points.
The third set was a ding dong affair as both teams slugged it out till 24 to 24 points. Life Camp took the advantage of the errors of Safety Spikers to win 26 to 24 points.
Head Coach of Life Camp Volleyball men’s club, Suleiman Ibrahim said the mandate given by the boards of directors is to qualify for the National Division 1 League.
He said, “Life Camp VC does not belong to the lower leagues. Most of our players have tasted top flight volleyball league and the assignment before me is to promote the team to the Division 1 League”.
