Nigeria beat Benin Republic 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9) to qualify for the women’s final of the ongoing 2023 African U21 Nations Volleyball Championship Zone 3 in Niamey, Niger Republic on Saturday night.

Nigeria will face Ghana in the women’s final today (Sunday) by 5pm.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) against Benin Republic, Maryam Ibrahim gave Nigerians assurance that the team will win the 2023 African U21 Nations Volleyball Championship Zone 3.

Ibrahim said she never expected to be voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) against Benin Republic by the organisers.

She said, “I feel very happy because I really didn’t expect the MVP though but I am very happy to have won it and I am proud about it.

“I promise to do more in our next match tomorrow; the team will equally give their best and make Nigerians proud by bringing the trophy home.

“I already had it in my mind that we are going to beat them by 3-0 but I just want our girls to push harder. I know we will win our next game.”

Ibrahim revealed that she believes in her teammates adding that the trophy belongs to Nigeria.

She said, “I believe in my teammates and don’t think that Ghana will give us a good fight because we will play them harder than we did the last time.

“We are not going to give them space to breathe, we are going all to ensure that we bring home the trophy.”
