UWW: Nigeria wrestlers ranking ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

United World Wrestling (UWW) has officially released its latest ranking of wrestlers ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, www.aclsports.com reports.

The wrestling event is scheduled for 5th to 11 August at the Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris.

In the women’s 57kg, World Silver medallist, Odunayo Adekuoroye is ranked world number three with 49,000 points following her exploits at the 2024 African Games in Ghana. Adekuoroye, three times Commonwealth Games Champion will be attending her third Olympic Games and hope to better her performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

15 times African Champion and World bronze medallist, Blessing Oborududu rose to world number 6 in the women’s 68kg with 25,400 points. Oborududu is the first Nigerian wrestler to win an Olympic medal and won Nigeria’s only silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

2023 African Games Champion, Esther Kolawole dropped to world number 8 with 31,600 points in the women’s 53kg, while 2023 African Games and World Junior Bronze medallist, Esther Kolawole is ranked world number 10 with 29,920 points in the women’s 62kg. Both wrestlers will be making their debut at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

World Military Gold medallist, Hannah Reuben maintained world number 8 with 24,200 points in the women’s 76kg. Reuben is making her second appearance at the Olympic Games.

Following his impressive performances at the African Games and Olympic Qualifiers, Ashton Adeyemi Mutuwa rose to world number 15 with 14,400 points in the men’s freestyle.

Blessing Oborududu (WW68kg)- 5th to 6th August

Christianah Ogunsanya (WW53kg)- 7th to 8th August

Odunayo Adekuroye (WW57kg)- 8th to 9th August

Esther Kolawole (WW62kg) and Ashton Mutuwa (MW125kg)- 9th to 10th August

Hannah Reuben (WW76kg)- 10th to 11th August
